Why, who is that handsome 13 lb 13.5 ounce cutie pie???
It's Jonah! The 5 3/4 month baby now wearing 6-9 month clothing!
So happy that he is growing like a weed!!
Will add missing things later
September 27th "Game Day"
Surgery scheduled for 730 am. We have to be there at 530. Jonah needs to come off the feeding tube at midnight.....
I pray I can sleep so in the morning I can be refreshed with HIS Holy Spirit throughout the day.
Thank you everyone for your prayers. To God be the glory....

When we first arrived at the hospital

Jonah in his gown ready to go back to sleep
Now it's waiting time...with Pastor Stan by our side...
Just got our first page...Jonah is stable...everything is going well :)
Grandma Sue and Poppi Joe are here for the long haul!
Uncle Bill, Aunt Charlene, Gigi and Aunt Jane came to cheer me on!
They finished with the Glenn procedure. No shunt was needed. They will start to close him soon and should be over to talk to us in an hour ;)
Met with Dr. Bradley. Jonah did great. We can go see him at 1PM. Right now..his stats are at 75. He would like them more toward 80. The lower Stat usually means more upper body congestion and pressure. We will watch him as he comes off of medication.
Jonah after the surgery
To God be the glory! Jonah is doing amazing. They feel he is doing well enough to intubate him tonight...All right prayer warriors.....you know what to do!
They have removed the ng tube and the breathing tube. His face is very swollen...however to be expected with the amount of oxygen his brain is getting now compared to before. He truly amazes both myself...nurses...doctors. Jonah is like a rubber band that always snaps back...even under pressure. He truly is a blessing from God. HE has taught us more and more that if you are faithful....HE WILL PROVIDE!

September 28 (Day 2)
Jonah is doing ok. He is very swollen and has a lot of fluid around his lungs. When he coughs...he is in a lot of pain. They continue to give him pain mess as needed. Will start him back on food this afternoon.
Jonah and GiGi
Jonah's first set back...he had too much fluid in his left lung....as they expected. They had to put in a chest tube at 530 this morning. They feel they will also have to put one in the other lung this afternoon. Please pray that his lung is clear and this is unnecessary. Also pray that the swelling goes down and he is more comfortable.
Jonah just hours after his "chest" tube was put in.
The swelling is starting to go down :)

Sept 30 (day 4)
I can't wait to see Jonah this morning. My phone never rang.....hopefully no chest tube was needed....our prayers were heard!
Jonah was awake and excited to see us this morning. His chest xray looked fairly well, so a chest tube was not necessary today. They started CPT, which is basically pounding on his chest to loosen the fluid (doesn't hurt). His cardiologist feels that he may not need one of his meds when he gets discharged, although they were conviced that he would need it. We will see. Dr. Bradley plans to take out his RA line tomorrow (essentially to help if he goes into cardiac arrest) and take out a few more things. He is down to only air in his nasal canula (before had moisture as well). The afternoon was a little chaotic and we didn't get to spend as much time, for a new infant came in and required several procedures that required them to close down the unit....therefore we couldn't be there with him :( Emily Kellner came to visit, as well as our Bible Study leaders Jay and Kim Mills. Linn's brother Russell also came with my sister in law Dona Pitts...as well as his mom. Lily had a great time playing in the atrium again. When we left, he had finally had a bowl movement (with some help), however it was good to know we are headed in the right direction. I pray tomorrow he requires less medication and I can see my "usual Jonah". Thank you Betty Jo Bartlett Harper for blessing us tonight! I look forward to seeing my pumpkin in the morning.
So Jonah's cardiologist and I were talking. She said..."we can't understand how typical cardiac kids require 120% the amount of calories compared to typical kids. But Jonah tooknfar less than a typical kid and still is right around his growh curve" I told her I understand....it's GOD! To HIM be the glory!
Sleepy head!
Jonah bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Jonah and Poppi
Although we couldn't be at church,,,,,they were praying for us! This has been the most amazing gift we can receive during this time. Thanks guys!!

Poor Jonah.....medicated and in a daze
Hi blue eyes!!
Jonah sleepy during the afternoon :(
Good morning,
ReplyDeleteYesterday was a long day, filled with thoughts of the Pitts family, until the call from our Michael that Jonah was out of surgery and doing well. What a relief. Many prayers answered. We will be out of internet range for the next week, but will look forward to Michael's phone updates.
Love to all of you,
Doug and Teddie
